There's a website called 1-daytee . They sell fancy shirts for a single day only, so you have to be quick to get the design you want. Well I finally saw one I really liked and thought it would be a great christmas gift to myself. I ordered it last week. Yesterday I received a shipping confirmation WITH tracking number. and today 3 days before xmas (when I should have recieved it, I got this email).
Good Afternoon,
Due to an error on our website we regret to inform you that we are unable to supply you the Ice Scream Tee – Men’s Navy Large that you have ordered.
I will get a refund underway today. Please allow 2-3 business days for it to show back on your card.
We sincerely apologise for this error.
I always wonder what they mean due to website errors, or system problems, or what not. It's never a human error which I think is great. Obviously some human made the website, if not there's a fucking evil robot out there listing shit for sale that doesn't exist. My guess is, that they print off the shirts after they are ordered. And they didn't get enough of the Large in Navy to justify printing it... So, I checked my tracking number and it says it's invalid. So they just generated some fake ass number, or they had at one point packed up my shirt, got it ready to ship, then lit it on fire... The latter would be excusable if they said that.
My response:
You ruined christmas. They're prompt response (surprising as it took them 4-5 days to tell me I wouldn't get my shirt):
Hi Mike,
This was completely unintentional. We definitely did not mean to ruin your xmas.
We do have this tee available in XL but I imagine it will be too large.
If you would like us to send this so you can try it on please let me know.
Regards
Well, yeah, I assume it's unintentional. I didn't say they intentionally ruined my Christmas, they just happened to ruin it. Think if this was a gift for baby Jesus, how fucked would you feel then?
My response:
No. It's too big, and it's still ruined. They once again responded quickly. I'm still curious how if I ordered on the 17th, today is the 23rd, that they're so prompt to tell me that my Christmas is ruined, versus when I ordered and their 'system' or what not went haywire.
Their reply:
Hi Mike,
Apologies again.
There is nothing I can really do to make your xmas better.
Your refund of $19.98 will go through tonight.
If you have any further questions please let us know.
Regards
Now I had some time to think more about it. And I realized this kinda sucked. It was the one shirt I bought for myself this Christmas, and actually the only present I bought myself. And it's not like I could get up and go to another e-tailer, this was a 1-day 1-off chance to get this shirt, hence the allure of this website. I am/was pretty upset, but I decided to take the high road.
My final response:
Nope, nothing can be done. I allow myself 1 present to myself every year. And this was it. Now I don't have it, the refund is well useless, sure i'll have my money, but I won't have my gift on Christmas. I'm sure my problems are tiny compared to the huge catastrophic event that must have happened to have lost all the navy large shirts that were sold that day. So I'll look on the bright side, at least i just lost my one and only present.Just one bit of food for thought. If you have a savings account where you earn 3.5 percent interest. In theory, you could charge people for a product X, put the money into the account, wait 6-7 days, then refund the money because you don't have the item in stock, or it never existed, etc. If you did this with say 100,000 dollars, well you could earn 3500 dollars a year, without ever shipping a product. Hmm... How about 1-day-mikes? who's in?
Have a fantastic holiday and a wonderful new years. And if it falls in your religious beliefs, god bless.
Have a happy, wonderful, peaceful, and if it allows, drunken holiday and new years.
